The Washington Police Chief said the suspect in the attack was identified as a Chicago man who shouted “Free, Free Palestine” while in custody.
“These terrible DC killings are clearly based on anti-Semitism and must end now! Hate and activism have no place in the United States,” President Trump said in a statement on his Truth Social Platform. “Congratulations to the families of the victims. Sadly, such things could happen! God bless everyone!”
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said she was “shocked by the shooting of two Israeli embassy employees in Washington, D.C.”.
“In our society, hatred, extremism or anti-Semitism should not be available, and I express my condolences to the victims and the families of the Israeli people,” Karas said in a statement posted on social media.

“There is nothing to justify anti-Semitic violence,” German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said on social media, saying his ideas were with the Israeli embassy and the people who died in the “sincere murder.”
“The murder of two Israeli embassy members near the Jewish Museum in Washington was an annoying anti-Semitic barbarism. There is no justification for this violence,” French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said on social media.
Barot said his idea “has involved in their loved ones, colleagues and the State of Israel.”
“I totally condemn anti-Semitic attacks outside the Jewish Museum in the capital of Washington, D.C.,” British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a social media post. “Anti-Semiticism is an evil and we have to be eliminated anywhere we appear. My idea is with their colleagues, family and loved ones, and as always, I am in line with the Jewish community.”
In a televised statement, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar blamed “the toxicity that has been happening since October 7, anti-Semitism inciting attacks from Israel and Jews around the world.”

Sa’ar said he called this “incitement” a “modern blood slander” from “leaders and officials of many countries and organizations, especially those from Europe”.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on social media: “We have witnessed anti-Semitism and wild inciting the terrible price of the State of Israel. The bloody slander of the Jewish state in the blood must fight for suffering.”
European leaders are increasingly outspoken in condemning Israel’s months-long lockdown of humanitarian food and medical aid into Gaza – an international group says it puts the entire population of the Palestinian territory at risk of hunger. Israel does allow a limited number of trucks carrying food and other supplies into Gaza Follow strong international pressureincluding the United States.
The war in Gaza began with the attack on Israel by Hamas, a designated terrorist group by the United States and Israel, killing about 1,200 people and killing 251 people as hostages.
