Indigo flights from Delhi to Srinagar caught a hail in a sudden hail on Wednesday night, causing obvious damage to the plane but prompted a swift and controlled response from the crew. The airline confirmed that, following standard operating procedures, flight 6E 2142 landed safely in Srinagar.
Flight 6E2142 is approaching Srinagar when it encounters intense weather activity. The hail smashed the plane as it descended, causing the airline to describe the plane as “weather-related damage” to the nose part of the plane.
“Flight 6e 2142 from Delhi to Srinagar encountered sudden hail while on the way. The flight and cabin crew followed the established protocol and the plane landed safely in Srinagar.”
The plane suffered damage to the part of its nose, also known as the Radome, which may be due to the hailstorm. Despite the clear weather, the crew remained in combination and kept the safety of all passengers on board. Viral videos inside the cabin captured the turbulence, and the plane swayed violently when hail hit the fuselage. Although no reports were reported, passengers could be seen feeling obvious pain.
After landing, Indigo’s airport team participated in the passenger’s attention, prioritizing their well-being and comfort. The airline added: “The airport team prioritizes its well-being and comfort once the plane arrives.”
The aircraft is currently in Srinagar and will be thoroughly inspected. “The aircraft will be released after necessary inspections and maintenance,” Indigo said.
